Ryan Batura

Ryan Batura and Steve Holzknecht have a long work history together.  Ryan has been working with Steve Holzknecht since 1984, and has a deep family history in construction that goes back three generations.  Ryan’s Grandfather was a master carpenter who re-located to the Seattle area back in the 1950’s and his father has been a Northwest contractor for over 40 years.  Ryan and his older brother followed in the family tradition, both becoming carpenters.

Ryan attended the University of Washington for engineering, but shortly after starting a desk job was quickly drawn back into construction. In 2001 Ryan took a sabbatical from Four Suns Inc. to step in as Program Director for the Red Feather Development Group, (www.redfeather.org) a nonprofit based in Bozeman, Mt. that co-operatively builds straw bale homes and buildings on low income Native American reservations.  During his leave Ryan became one of only a few national experts on straw bale construction, a very efficient form of building and insulation.  After getting the Red Feather construction program up and running, Ryan returned to Seattle in the fall of 2002 and immediately re-united with Steve Holzknecht and re-assumed his position as Vice President of Four Suns Inc.

Ryan was brought up in and around construction, and his love for his trade shows in his exuberance he brings to work every day.
